Itinerary
Day 1 | Friday 19 July | Arrival Malpensa - transfer to Villa Leonetti in Brallo, Serole, Asti, Piemonte
Day 2 | Saturday 20 July | Acclimitization Villa Leonetti - dry run with gear to Puschera
Hike description: Altitude climb from 581 meters/1906 feet - Puschera 851 meters / 2791 feet - this is an easy hike through the forests up to the highest point of the Langhe
Day 3 | Sunday 21 July | Transfer to Terme di Valdiera 1368 meters & hike to Rifugio Morelli Buzzi | 2351 meters
Hike description: Altitude climb of 982 meters / 3222 feet from Terme di Validiera to Rif. Buzzi.
Time: 5-6 hours. The hike is categorized as E or Escursionistico meaning that the trail is well marked. From Terme di Valdieri (CN), hiking on an old mule track for approximately 7.8 km and 1050 m. Crossing a stream on a wooden bridge and passing through a forest. The path crosses the valley and climbs to Gias Lagarot (1917 m) then Lagarot di Lourousa, with a view of the Canalone di Lourousa. From here there are crossroads for the Varrone bivouac to the right and, continuing up another hour and arriving at the refuge.
The cohort will take ample breaks to stop, reflect and enjoy the views.
Day 4 | Monday 22 July | Hike to Rifugio Genova | 2015 meters
Hike description: Altitude climb of 175 meters / 574 feet from Rif. Buzzi to Rif. Genova. Upon leaving Rif. Buzzi there is a steep climb to the peak of Chiapous at 2526 meters / 8287 feet afterwhich it is a series of switch backs down to Rif. Genova at 2015 meters.
Time: 4-5 hours
The cohort will take amble breaks to stop, reflect and enjoy the views.
Day 5 | Tuesday 23 July | Hike to Rifugio Remondino 2430
Hike description: Altitude climb of 885 meters / 2903 feet. Upon departing from Rif. Genova to Rif. Remondino there is a steep climb to Colle di Brocan at 2892 meters / 9488 feet afterwhich it is a series of switch backs down to Rif. Remondino at 2430 meters.
Time: 6-7 hours. This is the most challenging leg of the trek
The cohort will take ample breaks to stop, reflect and enjoy the views of the valley and Lake Bocan.
Day 6 | Wednesday 24 July | Depart from Rif. Remondino hike to Terme di Valdieri - transfer to Villa Leonetti
Time: 2-3 hours. This is an easy hike out, with lovely pastoral views.
